Hepatitis outbreak in Marwah, Dachan: Chairman seeks report | KNO

JAMMU, JANUARY 18 (KNO) : Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today asked the government to come up with a statement in the House about the outbreak of Hepatitis-B in far off Marwah and Dachan areas of district Kishtwar. The Chairman issued these directions after the issue of Hepatitis outbreak was raised in the Upper House by MLC Firdous Ahmad Tak. Tak said six more persons have tested positive for hepatitis-B in the area taking the number of affected patients to 69. He said the patients have been shifted to Anantnag Hospital for treatment though it lacks the required facilities. He urged the government to send a team of specialist doctors and adequate medicare to the area for the treatment of the affected people. He also demanded that a special cell be constituted in the district hospital Anantnag for examining the increasing flow of such patients. He stressed the need for establishment of testing lab at the hospital at an earliest. The legislator said that the District laboratory at Anantnag established for investigating Hepatitis B cases should be equipped fully to prevent the people from more sufferings.(KNO)
